Description

For vintage diecast toys collectors, we are offering for sale a great collection of 5 Matchbox Sky-Busters made in England.

The Matchbox Sky Busters were a popular line of die-cast metal toy airplanes produced by Matchbox in England. The line included a variety of different aircraft, including commercial airliners, military jets, helicopters, and even space shuttles. Today's lot were made in 1978 and 1977 and include the following aircraft:

  • Matchbox Lesney Sky-Buster SB-24 General Dynamics YF-16, made in 1978 - The YF-16 was an experimental fighter jet developed by General Dynamics in the 1970s as part of the United States Air Force's Lightweight Fighter program. The YF-16 was designed to be a lightweight, highly maneuverable, and versatile fighter aircraft that could be used in a variety of combat scenarios.
  • Matchbox Lesney Sky-Buster SB-19 Piper Commanche, made in 1978 - The Piper Comanche is a light aircraft that was first introduced by Piper Aircraft Corporation in the 1950s. It was designed to be a versatile and affordable aircraft that could be used for a variety of purposes, including personal transportation, business travel, and even light cargo hauling.
  • Matchbox Lesney Sky-Buster SB-4 Mirage F.1., made in 1978 - The Mirage F.1 is a fighter jet that was developed by the French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation in the 1960s. It was designed to be a versatile and highly maneuverable aircraft that could be used in a variety of combat scenarios, including air-to-air combat and ground attacks.
  • Matchbox Lesney Sky-Busters SB-3 Space Shuttle, made in 1978 - Developed by NASA in the 1970s, the Space Shuttle was used for a variety of missions, including carrying astronauts and scientific equipment into orbit and servicing the Hubble Space Telescope. The Matchbox Sky-Busters SB-3 Space Shuttle was a highly detailed and accurate representation of the real-life spacecraft.
  • Matchbox Lesney Sky-Busters SB-17 Ram Rod, made in 1977 - The Ram Rod was a fictional aircraft created by Matchbox for their Sky Busters line and was not based on any real-life aircraft. It was designed to be a high-performance jet with futuristic styling and unique features.

The Matchbox Sky Busters quickly became popular among kids and collectors alike, and the line continued to be produced for many years, with new models added regularly. Today, vintage Sky Busters are highly sought after by collectors, and many enthusiasts collect and display these classic toy airplanes.

Condition: All toys are in their original boxes and in mint condition. Most boxes are in good shape, although some of them show old labels being removed and thus the boxes are now scratched, one displays an old label on the front plastic, and one of them was clearly squished as the plastic window has collapsed. Otherwise dings and scuffs, but display very well.
