Description

Add a touch of personality and style to your kitchen with this gorgeous vintage Oak Wooden Biscuit Barrel. Insulated with a porcelain lining. The interior porcelain has natural craquelure that clearly shows the passage of time. Craquelure occurs as a result of natural aging and the differential expansion and contraction of the materials used in ceramics, such as the clay body and the glaze. Over time, these stresses cause the surface to develop a network of fine cracks. Very solid and in great vintage condition.

Dimensions: 5.5 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall (without the handle)

Marked on the back of the lid with the Davis & Sons Glasgow Scotland UK, late 19th century early 20th century. Marked E.P.N.S (Electroplated nickel silver) on the barrel top and bottom hoops.

Biscuit barrels were utilized during the 19th century in England and Europe as ornamental storage containers for biscuits and cookies. It can be transformed into a sophisticated ice bucket, adding an element of elegance to any setting!

In comparison to other biscuit barrels of its kind, this particular item stands out due to its exceptional level of ornateness. If you have a passion for vintage cookie jars, be sure to explore our marketplace for additional options!
