Description

Introducing our exquisite antique Ivory Okimono of a Farmer with Two Children and Farm Tools – a true masterpiece that captures the essence of rural life and craftsmanship from a bygone era.

Crafted with meticulous detail and expert artistry, this antique ivory sculpture is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Japan. The Okimono, a traditional Japanese art form, showcases a farmer and his two children amidst their daily agricultural activities. The warmth of their facial expressions,  the children's poses, and the simplicity of this scene radiate through the carefully sculpted expressions and intricate design.

This Okimono tells a beautiful story of a father passing down the art of farming to his children. It's a touching representation of the values of family, tradition, and hard work.

Crafted from genuine antique ivory, this Japanese Okimono is a reflection of the materials and techniques employed during the Meiji era. It has a warm, organic feel that adds to its charm.

Condition: Complete and in great condition. Comes with its original ivory base. Characteristic hairline cracks, consistent with the passage of time, can be observed in the ivory. Although the figurines exhibit subtle shifts in their positions, it's important to note that the Okimono remains structurally sound and well-preserved given its age and intricate carving. A thin streak of red adhesive is discernible on the face of one of the children, from possible old fix of the hoe tool and left arm of the farmer.

Dimensions: 6.6 inches tall, 4 inches wide at the base.

Immerse yourself in the history and culture of Japan with our Antique Ivory Okimono of a Farmer with Two Children and Farm Tools. Don't miss the opportunity to own a unique piece of art that tells a captivating story of family and tradition.

Ivory carving is an art form that has been practiced in Japan since ancient times. Ivory carvers exhibit great skill and patience to create these intricate sculptures. Okimono is a Japanese carving, similar to, but larger than a netsuke. An elegant display piece and it will make a statement in any room.
