About Federal Glass

Federal Glass Company was a prominent glass manufacturer based in Columbus, Ohio, active from the early to mid-20th century. Established in 1900, Federal Glass initially focused on producing pressed glassware, including tableware, kitchenware, and decorative items. Over the years, the company gained recognition for its innovative designs and quality craftsmanship.

During the Great Depression, Federal Glass adapted to the economic challenges by producing affordable Depression glass, characterized by colorful and intricate patterns. This move helped the company thrive during a difficult period.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Federal Glass expanded its product line to include ovenware, barware, and other household items, catering to the growing demand for functional and stylish glassware.

Federal Glass was known for its collaborations with various designers and artists, resulting in a diverse range of patterns and styles. Some of their popular designs include "Madrid," "Patrician," and "Sharon," among others.

The company ceased operations in the early 1970s, but its legacy lives on through the numerous collectible pieces that remain highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts today.
