Both paintings are in fine condition and untouched. Paintings by Louis Ritschard (1817–1904) are almost always small, bordering on miniature. Most sought are works such as this pair, each accomplished on a chamfered panel measuring 4 ½" by 5 ½". In the original frame each painting is about 6" by 8". The frames are identical and in good condition, the surfaces worn just right. Both paintings are signed. Both the original brass hangers remain in place – both can be seen on the top of the pictures.
