Description

A stunning walrus tusk sculpture of a walrus on 'ice'. in fact a base block made of walrus task as well. The artist used black and red pigments for a few touches of colour on the walrus. Estimated at $500 - make us an offer today!

Have you ever had a peculiar feeling or connection with an antique you held in your hands? We did with this beautiful sculpture. It is in great condition with hairline cracks especially in the base. In general cracks in walrus ivory denote age. Older the ivory more prone to cracks it is. In this case, the cracks in the base are leading your eyes to the sculpture itself. Take a look at the bottom of the base and at the back of the walrus and you'll see the primary dentine of the tusk clearly defined.

Materials: Walrus tusk and black and red pigment
Dimensions: 2.25 x 2.75 x 1.25 inches, weight: 150g

Feel free to evaluate its condition from the detailed photographs. If you have any questions about its condition, or would you like to review higher resolution photographs, please do not hesitate to contact us.
