About Noritake
The history of Noritake traces back to the establishment of Morimura Brothers in New York City in 1876 by Ichizaemon Morimura and his brother Toyo. The company initially dealt with the import and distribution of Western-style chinaware.
In 1904, the Morimura brothers established Nippon Toki Kaisha, Ltd. (Japan Ceramic Company), which later became Noritake Company, Limited. This marked the official beginning of Noritake's production of its own porcelain and ceramics in Japan. The company's early wares were often marked with the word "Nippon," as was common during that time.
Noritake quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality, artistic porcelain, and it played a significant role in introducing Western-style tableware to the Japanese market. The brand's history has since been marked by its commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and the creation of beautiful, collectible pieces.
