About Pelham Puppets
- Pelham Puppets were originally crafted by Bob Pelham in his workshop in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England, starting in 1947. Pelham initially began making puppets as a sideline to his main woodworking business.
- Pelham Puppets were not only popular as toys but also found use in educational settings. They were often used in schools and therapy sessions to help children develop motor skills, creativity, and social interaction.
- While many Pelham Puppets were sold as standard designs, the company also offered customization options. Customers could request personalized puppets with specific costumes, features, or even likenesses.
- Although Pelham Puppets were made in England, they gained popularity worldwide. The company exported its puppets to countries across Europe, North America, and beyond, becoming a beloved toy in many households around the globe.
- The original Pelham Puppets company closed its doors in 1990. However, in recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in Pelham Puppets, with collectors seeking out vintage models and some enthusiasts even creating new puppets inspired by the classic designs.
