About Indiana Glass
Indiana Glass Company traces its roots back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, operating from 1907 to 2002. The predecessors to Indiana Glass began operations in Dunkirk, Indiana, around 1896 and 1904. These early beginnings eventually evolved into what would become the Indiana Glass Company.
Throughout its history, Indiana Glass became known for its quality craftsmanship and innovative designs. One of its notable contributions to the glassware industry was the development of Depression glass during the 1920s and 1930s. Depression glass was mass-produced and often given away as premiums or sold at low prices during the Great Depression. Indiana Glass was among the key manufacturers of this colorful and affordable glassware, which became highly collectible in later years.
In addition to Depression glass, Indiana Glass produced various other glassware patterns and styles, catering to different tastes and trends over the decades. Some of their popular patterns include "Tea Room," "Sandwich Glass," "Lorain," and "Mount Vernon." The company also produced carnival glass, milk glass, and a range of pressed glass items.
Indiana Glass remained in operation for nearly a century before closing its doors in 2002 due to financial difficulties. Despite its closure, the legacy of Indiana Glass lives on through the numerous pieces that continue to be collected and cherished by enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
