Description

Offered for sale is a set of 2 vintage military diecast toys: Corgi Chieftain Medium Tanks. Both are loose and in good to great condition. The one in camouflage paint seems to have been enjoyed at some point. Small paint chips, and it might have new paint added. Still complete and in great shape. The second one is in better condition, probably never played with.

The Chieftain tank was a British-designed and -built main battle tank that served as the backbone of the British Army's armored forces during the Cold War era. The Chieftain was initially armed with a powerful 120mm L11A5 rifled main gun, capable of engaging enemy tanks and fortified positions with high accuracy and firepower. Later variants were equipped with upgraded guns, such as the L11A7 and L30A1, further enhancing its combat capabilities.

The tank's armor was thick and well-sloped, providing excellent protection against both kinetic energy and shaped-charge anti-tank projectiles. Its frontal armor was particularly formidable, capable of withstanding hits from most contemporary tank guns. The Chieftain entered service with the British Army in the late 1960s and served as the primary main battle tank until the introduction of the Challenger 1 in the 1980s. It saw extensive service during the Cold War period, being deployed in various roles and theaters of operation.
