Description

This vintage glass flower frog is a unique piece, perfect for flower arrangements. Its high-quality, heavy glass construction ensures durability, and it features a captivating glow under UV light, adding a touch of charm to your floral displays. We tested both under 365nm and 395nm, and it seems it glows best at 365, which may be an indication of contents of manganese rather than uranium. Regardless, you'll enjoy the glow as shown in the enclosed images.

Approximate dimensions: 4 inches wide, 2.25 inches tall, 750g

About Flower Frogs

A glass frog, also known as a flower frog or floral frog, serves as a support structure for arranging flowers in a vase. Typically made of glass or metal, it features spikes or holes where stems can be inserted, helping to keep them in place and create a visually appealing arrangement. The weight and stability of a glass frog also help to keep the flowers securely positioned within the vase.

The concept of using a support structure for arranging flowers dates back centuries, but the modern flower frog as we know it today first gained popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The earliest patent for a flower frog design was filed in 1875 by Charles Beseler, which featured a metal plate with holes for inserting flower stems. Since then, flower frogs have been made in various materials such as glass, metal, and ceramic, and they continue to be used for floral arrangements around the world.
