Heisey Glass: Rare Octagon Marigold Glass Bowls, Uranium Glass
In beautiful octagon shape and rare Marigold color - a real collector's gem!
- Item # 592644
- Qty Available 1
Rare and elegant, this pair of Heisey Glass Octagon Marigold Glass Bowls are a stunning addition for collectors or enthusiasts of early glassware. These bowls were likely used for serving nuts. As a pair, they hold added value.
The bottom of the bowl is marked with the Heisey Glass Company’s signature diamond-shaped emblem featuring an “H” inside. Because Heisey applied a fire-polished finish to their pieces, the mark may sometimes appear faint. However, with a magnifier, the mark on this bowl is still clearly visible. They display a strong glow under a UV light - see the enclosed photos for a reference.
These Heisey Glass Company Octagon Bowls, likely part of the Moongleam pattern, feature a stunning marigold color, offering a unique variation on Heisey’s traditional designs. Their octagonal shape combined with the marigold finish makes them stand out as rare collectibles.
From the Heisey Glass Museum website: "Marigold - This was a brassy amber gold that was made for a short time. The color was susceptible to cracking as it cooled, creating much waste. Marigold was discontinued after a short period. An experimental color, called Gold, was similar to Marigold. However, when placed under a black light, Marigold glows, while Gold turns to a salmon red."
Our Heisey bowls glow strongly under UV light, so we can say with certainty that these are indeed rare examples of Marigold color.
