Scarce Nadal Figurine of a Japanese Geisha Entertainer
Semi-gloss glaze featuring beautiful details. Handcrafted Spanish porcelain.
- Item # 595971
- Qty Available 1
The grace and elegance of a Japanese Geisha performer are captured in this exquisitely made figurine. Nadal's attention to detail is evident in the delicate intricacies of her flowing dress and composed demeanour. This item is perfect for collectors or lovers of exquisitely crafted figurines since it is a singular example of cultural artistry.
Approximate dimensions: 8 inches tall, 4 inches wide, and 5 inches deep. In excellent condition. Marked twice with the Nadal mark on the bottom. We love the small details in her hair flowers and the flower pattern on some parts of her flowing kimono that are very subtle. We appreciate that her hands, beautifully sculpted, and her face are left unglazed - a thoughtful artistic decision.
Over the years, we have seen and acquired a significant quantity of Nadal porcelain. Nonetheless, there has been a limited presence of this semi-gloss glaze. It is neither a matte glaze nor the highly glossy glaze that is characteristic of Lladro, Nadal, and other Spanish porcelain alternatives.
About Nadal
In 1915, Nadal was established in Manises, Spain, a town well-known for its extensive ceramic art tradition. Nadal concentrated on making figures that are both approachable and intricately detailed, in contrast to some of its rivals, such Lladro. Nadal's concentration on theme diversity is a little-known truth; figures from their collections are often influenced by folklore, everyday life, and international cultures. In addition, Nadal distinguishes itself from other porcelain firms by striking a unique balance between contemporary methods and classic Spanish artistry.
Nadal is still in business today and makes collectible figures that are particularly appealing to people looking for classic works with distinctive personalities. This figure of a Geisha entertainer is a great illustration of how Nadal uses porcelain art to bring ethnic themes to life.
