Description

This substantial porcelain figurine, entitled "Love Me, Love Me Not," exemplifies the artistry of the Soviet era. It has intricate workmanship and superior quality, demonstrating the expertise and commitment of porcelain artisans of that era. The base of the figurine bears the inscription "Made in USSR," indicating its origin. It illustrates a young girl in traditional attire who is playing the game "Love Me Love Me Not" with a daisy flower. The game consists of picking the petals, one by one from the daisy while uttering the phrase "Love Me Love Me Not". The last phrase spoken is said to indicate whether the person loves the the other person. She leans against a small fence encircled by lush greenery. Colours are both vivid and beautiful.

Before it broke up in 1991, the Soviet Union was home to a number of well-known porcelain producers. The world knew factories like Lomonosov in Russia and Dulevo for their high standards and one-of-a-kind designs. In Ukraine, the Polonnoe Factory of Art Ceramics and the Korosten Porcelain Factory were very important in making beautiful, useful, and artistic items. Each of these companies added to the USSR's history of making beautiful porcelain, making pieces that are still highly valued today for their skill and historical value.

This large figurine is likely made by the Polonnoe Factory of Art Ceramics. An identical figure was discovered in the marketplace bearing their stamp on the base. Ours possesses solely a mould number and the Made in USSR insignia.

Approximate dimensions: This is a big figurine. It is 6" by 4" at the base and stands 12" tall. In excellent condition, no chips nor cracks.

This figure isn't just a beautiful piece of porcelain; it's also a piece of history that shows the art, culture, and industry of its time. It has a story that goes beyond its beautiful design, whether you want to collect it or just use it as a piece of art.
