Hide and Seek Vintage Bookends Featuring Girl and Boy, Heavy
Hold your books in style!

- Item # 602838
- Qty Available 1
Available for sale is this delightful set of vintage bookends that depicts a joyful childhood moment, with one side showing a boy and the other a girl with her dog hiding behind books. Unlike subsequent ceramic or resin variants, these are large, and likely cast in bronze or other metal, with a noticeable weight (boy: 2.450g, girl: 2.400g). The details are clear, and the paint and the gold gilding on the books is well-preserved, making these a scarce find in such good shape!
Approximate dimensions: The girl bookend is 7.5 inches tall, while the boy is 8.5 inches tall. They will easily support a set of heavier or taller books as seen in the enclosed photographs. The books shown in the photographs are not included in this listing. However, they are available for purchase as a lot of six Alistair MacLean first edition hardcovers.
They are offered in excellent condition, making them ideal for collectors or anybody who values timeless craftsmanship. These bookends do more than just hold books; they tell a story.
Did you know that the first known bookends were patented in 1877 by William Stebbins Barnard. Before that, people relied on wooden slats or built-in shelves to keep books upright.
